Well we finally did it, Affable Chat finally has a website. Just like we promised in our '4 Year Retrospective' episode. And it’s only 4 months late. See how we did that? “4 years” then “4 months”. Almost like we did it on purpose…
Welcome to Affable Chat dot com, your new favorite website. I mean honestly how many websites do you really go to anymore? Everything is hosted by the titans of the internet, the facebooks, the youtubes, the tik toks. I think it’s high time we fought back. Lets take back what’s ours. The internet is for the little guy, and you won’t find littler (or cuter) guys than me and Joey, right here on Affable Chat dot com. Log in as often as you can to show those fat cats over at facebook what a real website is all about.
As you can tell by the title of this blog post we’re very powerfully delivering on the concept of “NOW” with this section of the website. The point of these posts will be to let you know what’s going on right NOW with Affable Chat. Joey and I have busy, complex, and compelling personal lives, which sometimes wrecks havoc on our podcast recording schedule. I won’t hold it against you if you didn’t know exactly what we were up to at any given moment. But that leniency ends NOW. With our shiny new website, and the power of ‘Affable Chat NOW’, you won’t be able to stop yourself from knowing everything you need to know about what we’re up to over here at Affable Chat.
so here’s what going on right “Now”
We just finished another series, this time we did the ‘Cornetto Three Flavours Trilogy’. This is a fantastic trilogy and really helps you image an alternative to the endless sequels we see in popular cinema today. The Trilogy ties three stories together simply by having them be created by the same people and nothing more. ‘Shaun of the Dead’ doesn’t waste any time setting up the plot for ‘Hot Fuzz’. ‘The World’s End’ doesn’t rely on intertextuality from the first two films to make it great. It’s really easy to talk about movies when the movies are great, and these movies certainly are great. Click here to listen to the whole series.
Joey’s been off being a journeyman podcast host, just like he always is. He did a great guest spot with our friend Brendan on ‘Talk AG To Me’ plus he was a guest on Season 4 of Super Bracket Bros! The episode he did is ‘Punisher vs GTA 5 Crew’. I was supposed to join him on this episode but of course the day we agreed to record was the same day I came down with a violent bout of food poisoning! I was supposed to be putting out content and I was putting out something entirely different! And a lot of it. Over and over again. (but it’s okay I’m better now :D )
I traveled up to Baltimore to visit my good friend Anthony and we recorded an Offscript episode that I think came out pretty spectacularly. Baltimore is a fun city with wonderful crabs. That feels like a weird sentence to type but I’m gonna let it stay because it’s so true.
Of course we’ve been doing the live stream every Tuesday night at 7pm EASTERN time over at Twitch.tv/AffableChat. We’ve been talking about city design and reacting to viewer submitted videos. Check it out right NOW.
Coming up we’re doing ‘Her’ starring Joaquin Phoenix and soon after that we’re doing ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once’, hopefully with some special guests! If you haven’t seen these movies yet here’s your heads up! There’s nothing better than listening to a new Affable Chat right after finishing the movie that the episode’s about. You simply can’t beat that feeling (so don’t even try!).
